What to expect at Woodridge on a Sunday Morning?

You will be greeted at the door with a handshake and a program. Our greeting staff can also direct you to various locations around the Church. They may also pass on last minute information about changes to classes or the schedule. We strive to make Woodridge a friendly place.

In the Commons you will find fresh coffee, donuts, and a place to chat with other Woodridgers. Preschool and Nursery age children who are dropped off at Sunday School or Nursery get a wristband. Their parents get one also that has the same number on it. This allows our Sunday School and Nursery workers to ensure that children get back to their parents.

This summer, during the 10:30 service, 1st through 5th graders can participate in the Sunday School Garden Series. They will plant a garden (white pants are probably not the best choice) on the church property as they learn lessons from the Bible about seeds, weeds, flowers, and staying connected to the vine. There is no 9 o'clock Sunday School for this particular age group during the summer.

Church starts at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m., but there is usually a prelude song, which starts a few minutes earlier. Then we jump into a mix of mostly contemporary Christian songs and a few traditional hymns. There's no need to worry about not knowing the words, since they are projected on the big screen. This time is often enhanced with a drama or special music. We also have occasional choir, well, occasionally.

Next, We typically have "Connections." This is the time in the service where announcements are made about upcoming events. Another way that we stay "connected" is to take a few minutes, at this point, to say hello to each other; shake a hand or two.

Next Pastor Dave (or an occasional guest speaker) gives the sermon. Pastor Dave has a very comfortable speaking style, often using real life illustrations. He has a great way of making even difficult ideas approachable.

After the sermon, there is usually a song to close the service. During the closing song we pass offering pouches for anybody who wishes to contribute.

Occasionally, lunch is available after the 10:30 service. Sometimes these are fundraising events for various ministries. Either way, this is a great time to hang out in the Commons area to get to know other people who come to Woodridge.
