Worship Ministry

A faithful worship leader magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by skillfully combining God’s Word with music, thereby motivating the gathered church to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence, and to live for God’s glory. ~Bob Kauflin, Worship Matters.

About Worship Ministry

Worship matters. All that we do in life is considered worship. The music we sing at Woodridge is a blend of old and new. We love the doctrinally rich hymns of the sixteenth century and we find blessing in the choruses of the twenty-first. Most of us who are comfortable with music from one particular era have discovered, while at Woodridge, that we have come to enjoy other songs we had not previously encountered. We strongly prefer congregational singing, which emphasizes the gathered body singing praise to God with one voice.

Worship ministry is purposeful in how we continue to grow as disciples of Christ, and seek to bring worship that is “in Spirit and Truth.” We do this by having monthly discipleship gatherings where the whole worship ministry (band, vocals, sound, media and coordinator teams) are invited to learn, grow and apply specific teachings relative to musical worship. We are also devoted to training our teams and have workshops that promote creativity and teaching musical excellence. Anyone in the congregation is encouraged to attend these as they eventually lead into our worship choir that we occasionally have lead worship on Sunday’s.
