Vocation and Recreation to the Glory of God

Today, there is considerable confusion over what it means to be a man or a woman.
The opening pages of scripture teach us that God made us male and female in His own image for unique purposes to glorify Him. We know the differences between men and women are important because God says so, but sometimes we fail to understand how far-reaching these differences are. In this conference, we will explore and seek to better understand how our male and femaleness shape our work (vocation) and play (recreation).

  • Breakout #1 - "The Productive Household"
    • Teacher: Brian Cornell
      •  In this class, Brian will lay out a biblical framework for the family and work, which can help us to see how working together as a family lends itself to obeying passages like Duet 6, Eph 6 and many others. This work is not only toward a financial income but also a focus on building Christlike character, meaningful discipleship, and productive property that will last for generations. We will then cover a handful of tools for families to use as they seek to build their own family economy and productive property - all to the glory of God.
  • Breakout #2 - "Education in the Present Age"
    • Teacher: Pastor Rich Parfrey
      • Understanding and dealing with the fallout of all that has happened in recent years around the secular schooling system, how does the Christian navigate the discipleship of his children for their primary, secondary, and post-secondary education? How does family legacy play a part?
  • Breakout #3 - Story Time Breakout Session for Children Ages 6-11
    • Boys track: a book and discussion questions read by a father
      • “Saint George and the Dragon”
In this session, Pastor Chuck will be reading the long-told story of Saint George and the Dragon. This legend that was first told almost a thousand years ago, tells the story of a knight who saves the princess and her people from the deadly threat of a great dragon. After the story we will talk about the ways that the knight is like our Savior who come and fought our greatest enemy. We will also consider how the story shows us what a godly man is like: he is willing to put himself in danger and fight against whatever might harm those he loves. To do this we must learn to be brave, trust God and follow after Jesus.

    • Girls track: a book and discussion questions read by a mother
  • Breakout #4 - "Raising Boys to be Boys and Girls to be Girls"
    • Teacher:  Jake Cadwell
      • “The goal of Christian parents is to cheat the system—a system determined on creating chaos and confusion in the life of the child, sowing unbelief and rebellion, and so twisting their minds as to render them unable to answer the most basic of questions regarding what it means to be made in the image of God as male and female.  Fortunately, our God has the cheat codes and wants for us use them.  Thus, this session will be devoted to the question: How do Christian parents raise boys to be boys and girls to be girls."
  • Breakout #5 - "Leveraging Masculinity and Femininity in Cultural Engagement"
    • Teacher: Pastor Joel Ebert
      • There is a pressing need to engage our culture. Men and women are structured differently and thus suited for different purposes. How can we best utilize our distinct natures as men and women to engage the culture?

12:15 pm - 1:15 pm Lunch & Fellowship

  • Lunch at Woodridge on 1st floor (included in registration fee).
    • Outdoor seating pending weather availability.
