Confession of Sin
Leader: 1 Timothy 1:15 states, “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners...” With this in mind, let us confess our sins to the God who sent his Son into the world to save sinners.
Church: Our Father in Heaven, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, we remember that your Son was born to save sinners. This is so good to remember because we have sinned, and sinned often. Heavenly Father, you have loved us with an everlasting love, but at times we have gone our own way and rejected your will for our lives. We confess our sins and turn away from them.
We confess our materialism; it is idolatry. We confess our immorality; it is wicked. We confess that at times our hearts have tried to find joy in sin rather than in Jesus Christ. But for the sake of your Son who was born, lived, died, and was raised for us, forgive us and sanctify us. Holy Spirit, enable us to follow our Lord and Savior so that we live holy lives that glorify Christ.

Assurance of Pardon
Leader: Christian, hear this assurance of your pardon from God’s word: “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:9–10)
All:  To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:17)

NEW CITY CATECHISM:
Q 13: Can anyone keep the law of God perfectly?
A 13: Since the fall, no mere human has been able to keep the law of God perfectly, but consistently breaks it in thought, word, and deed.
Romans 3:10–12
