The Purposes for and the Pitfalls of Short-Term Missions

In his book “Missions: How the Local Church Goes Global” Andy Johnson writes “It’s estimated that more than a million North Americans participate in short-term mission trips overseas each year, up from an estimated twenty-five thousand in 1980. During this same period, long-term missionaries from North America have only increased slightly, if at all. This trend prevails in other nations too. What are we to make of this massive shift of resources? Is it a good or bad thing?” In this fourth and final sermon in our missions and church planting series we will seek to answer these and other questions by looking at some of Paul’s closing instructions to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4.
