Lesson 5 - Movements 3, 4 and 5 of the Psalms Cantata

Apr 7, 2024    Jeff Sparks

In this lesson, we go over the last three parts of the five-movement cantata of the Psalms. Movement III, "Is the Davidic Covenant Abandoned" (Ps. 73-89), is the darkest of the five movements. It helps form within us a rooted hope in God, and how he is faithful to us. Movement IV titled "Reaffirming Foundations" (Ps 90-106) focuses on Yahweh's reign and how his people can have confidence that he will keep his promises to his Anointed. Finally, we finish with movement V, "The Rule of God's Anointed," (Ps 107-145) which is all about anticipating the final fulfillment of the Davidic covenant, when God's throne and David's throne will merge into one and is full of Psalms of praise. This class is based on the book by Scott Anoil, "Musing on God's Music".
