Jesus Stood Among Them

The disciples’ excitement continued to increase as word spread that Jesus was alive and appearing to people like Cleopas and his traveling companion. As they were talking about these things, they were surprised by Jesus who stood among them and greeted them with these wonderful words… “Peace to you”. However, thinking that they were seeing a ghost, rather than experiencing peace they were gripped by fear. Jesus proceeded to show them that he was not a ghost because he had been bodily raised from the dead. In this passage the Lord’s great patience towards his people is displayed and the importance of believing in Jesus’ bodily resurrection is reinforced.
